about

Ondness is one of the many musical aliases of Lisbon's most prolific electronic music producers (Sabre, Serpente) besides being a musician in several projects from Jazz to experimental. Just 2019 alone saw him release 'Parada' on NOT WAVING, 'Not Really Now Not Any More' on Holuzam and his latest 'Meio Que Sumiu' on Discrepant meaning the “community that disappeared,” alluding to the disappearance of outdoor communities and how it affects the music we listen to and how we listen to it. He wanted to release an album less about himself and his inspirations and more about his aspirations about how dance music could be in an era of constant interactivity and information, and also how it fails to be that aspiration.

By deconstructing the elusive electronic club genre, Ondness looks to the future of dance music. Through his minimalist scratchy percussion and amorphous bass tessellated in patterns resembling footwork and current Afro-Latin dance movements, yet never quite landing in any fixed style apart from his own!.

I've been following his work for a while now and was lucky to have him accept my invitation to play one of the most eclectic DJ Sets I've listened to for our show afterparty at Lisbon's Musicbox. And since good luck comes in pairs I'm fortunate to have him remixing one our songs. There's no one sounding quite like Ondness does.... fight me on this. (Bruno)
